JÓZSEF N. PÁL (Pethőhenye, 1957) received his MA degree in History and Hungarian Literature from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest in 1984, where he has been teaching since. He is the author of several books on the philosophical background of the poetry of Endre Ady, the history of the Hungarian populist movement, and the interrelation of politics and literature in Hungary between 1945 and 1968. His research areas include sports history as well.
