Tara Bergin was born and grew up in Dublin. She moved to England in 2002, and has just completed her PhD at Newcastle University on Ted Hughes’s translations of János Pilinszky. Recent publications include “Stag Boy” (on Hughes’s version of Ferenc Juhász), which featured in The Best British Poetry 2012 (Salt), and a conference paper delivered in Budapest entitled, “Ted Hughes’s Sensibility of Translation”, now available on-line in the Hungarian Electronic Library (2011). Her interview with the translator Francis Jones about Hughes’s work with Pilinszky appeared in PN Review (Summer 2012). Tara Bergin’s debut collection of poetry, This is Yarrow, is due out later this year, published by Carcanet Press.
